ED Talk: Leading with Our Values to Create Sustainable Change

Description

Don’t miss our last DPS ED Talk: Leading with Our Values to Create Sustainable Change with Layla Avila.

Education Leaders of Color was founded by and for Black and Latino education leaders to create a network that supports and elevates Black/Latino leaders with the end goal of proliferating the field with more diverse, values-aligned leaders. Key among these values is creating sustainable change and working with communities.

Layla Avila will talk about the transformation of her own leadership as teacher, school board member, and education leader, how she let go of the fear of hearing from her stakeholders to establish stronger organizational cultures, and how it’s imperative that during this time we build strong cultures where we listen to those most affected by our efforts to improve education.

5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, May 10
Manual High School | 1700 E 28th Ave, Denver

RSVP for the event online.

DPS ED Talks are designed to bring educators and community members together to discuss issues affecting DPS schools, and to help create an open environment to learn from each other in pursuit of the DPS vision Every Child Succeeds. The ED Talk series was created following the recent report by Dr. Sharon Bailey documenting race and equity issues in schools.
