Executive Director, Culturally Sustaining Curriculum & Instruction
Theo Shaw is honored to be joining us as the Executive Program Director of Culturally Responsive Education. Theo comes to the Division of Academics with a strong school background and focus on CRE. He has been an assistant principal at Morey Middle School and Center for Talent Development, where he has used strategic school planning as a key lever to lead, fund, and implement best practices for CRE and rigorous instruction, leading to significant improvements in student performance and school culture.
In addition to his deep knowledge of K-12 education, Theo is experienced in leading change management, community engagement and curriculum design. Theo has completed coursework for his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Denver. He is now working on his dissertation, focusing on culturally responsive school leadership. Theo believes that every child has gifts that can be leveraged to make our community a better place, and that our responsibility as educators is to ensure that we provide every child with the learning environments and supports that nurture their academic and socio-emotional well-being. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends and exploring Colorado.
