We will prioritize team members who are frontline staff working with our students every day, in collaboration with union leadership, and we will be in contact with those employees, including steps on how appointments will be made with Children’s Colorado. We will be providing further details on the vaccination timeline and procedures with all of Team DPS as those plans are developed and confirmed. DPS is not requiring you to take the vaccine, because we know this is an individual and personal choice for all staff members. However, we hope that a large number of our team will choose to take the vaccine in order to provide maximum protection for our staff and student communities. Please reach out to your personal health care provider with any questions about the vaccine, or if you would prefer to receive the vaccine from them. We’re very pleased to be entering into this partnership with one of the country’s premier healthcare providers. Children’s Colorado is ranked No. 6 on U.S. News and World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals Honor Roll. As a champion of kids’ health, Children’s Colorado has been advocating for the safe return to in-person learning and for the prioritization of the COVID-19 vaccine for school personnel. Making the COVID-19 vaccine available to all of our frontline, school-based staff is, of course, an important next step in working toward a return to more of a normal school year in the fall. I’m tremendously grateful to our team and the leadership at Children’s Colorado for their hard work and collaboration in support of our students, educators, and families. And thank you to all of Team DPS for your advocacy, support, and commitment throughout all of the challenges we’ve faced throughout this past year.Sincerely,
Vaccine Update in Our DPS Weekly
As you may have heard, Gov. Jared Polis announced today that teachers and child care workers, as well as those 65-69 years old, are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine starting Feb. 8. Click here for the updated Vaccine Distribution plan for Colorado.
To support, DPS announced our partnership with Children’s Hospital Colorado (Children’s Colorado), which will allow us to offer vaccinations to all of our roughly 18,000 employees and charter school team members. Thanks to Children’s Colorado, we hope to be able to offer the opportunity for all team members to receive the vaccine between now and the end of March (subject to the vaccine’s availability and any changes from state officials).
We will prioritize team members who are frontline staff working with our students every day, in collaboration with union leadership, and we will be in contact with those employees with steps on how appointments will be made with Children’s Colorado. Please do not reach out Children’s to set up your appointment.
As a reminder, DPS is not requiring you to take the vaccine, because we know this is an individual and personal choice for all staff members. However, we hope that a large number of our team will choose to take the vaccine in order to provide maximum protection for our staff and student communities. Please reach out to your personal health care provider with any questions about the vaccine. We will share more information about this opportunity, as well as additional resources, in the coming days.
