Dear DPS Educators,
I wanted, first off, to send my well-wishes to all of you and your loved ones. Please do everything you can to stay safe and healthy.
I know we’re also all thinking about our children and our families, sending them as much strength and comfort as we can, thinking and looking hard for ways to help.
It’s really tough to be away from our work and our kids. I think one important thing we can do is to try and find ways to give our children as much access as we can to our educators — your heart, your humor, your spirit and talent.
If you have an activity you’d like to share – something short and fun that kids can do at home – please consider sharing it with me, simply by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.Think about simplifying it as much as possible so that it’s easy to share over social media. (We’ll primarily be using our Facebook page, given that it is the channel that we believe is most widely used in our community, and also looking for other ways to share with students and families.)
Feel free to share your favorite classroom activities however you like, including short videos. We’ll take it from there and work to get as much content as we can to our families.
A math brain-teaser; an easy science experiment; a favorite poem; a monumental speech from history; a fun art project; a journal prompt – and any and all other activities that come to mind that kids and families might enjoy during the time away from school.
Thank you in advance … and I can’t wait to share some of these with our families!
