As COVID-19 continues to impact our city, state and the world, there has been an increase in coronavirus-related fraud. These fraudulent attempts often come in the form of emails that are trying to trick users into visiting malicious websites and providing personal or financial information.
DoTS has seen phishing attempts such as fake “survival guides,” malicious infection statistics websites, messages impersonating official organizations, fake medical supply offers and false employee/work guidelines.
Here are a few reminders to help protect yourself from fraud during this time:
· DPS communications about COVID-19 will always come from a dpsk12.org email address.
· Never click on links in unsolicited emails or provide personal or financial information inside an email.
· Help protect others by reporting suspicious emails, either by clicking the “Report Phish” button or forwarding the email to email@example.com.
· When working remotely, install all operating system and software updates for your DPS devices. For more information and resources, visit The Commons.
