All DPS community members are invited to attend an upcoming Budget Community Meeting to learn more about the district’s budget challenges, consider the long-term budget picture, pose questions, and discuss concerns. COVID-19 has dramatically changed our budget, and we face a shortfall of nearly $65 million for the 2020-21 school year and an ongoing gap of over $60 million annually in future years.
We are working hard to reduce our costs in a way that puts equity first and ensures all our students are academically successful. Our budget proposal focuses on equity, so we can maintain a high level of service to our students and families when they need it most, streamlines central support, and protects school budgets while we build a long-term solution for ongoing savings while working to protect our staffing levels in order to provide strong service to the community.
Please consider attending an upcoming virtual meeting:
We want to recognize the short notice for these meetings; however, we want to hear from you before the Denver Board of Education votes on the budget on June 29.
