Welcome to Teacher & Teacher Leader Advisory Councils

  • The Teacher Advisory Council is a group of 26 teachers and teacher leaders who help elevate and center teacher voice. The Council supports continuous improvement through strong cultures of feedback, input and decision making from teachers and teacher leaders. It also develops the leadership capacity and influence of teachers and teacher leaders through intentional spaces for development.

  • Meeting Cadence 

    Teacher & Teacher Leader Advisory Councils meet with senior leaders and central support staff 6 times between October and May. Participants will commit to 2 hours a month and will receive extra duty pay.

  • Roles

    • Teacher & Teacher Leader Advisory Council Members
      • Share candid and confidential feedback to influence key work that affects students, teachers and teacher leaders at DPS
      • Represent your own experience, and, when relevant, speak to the experience and perspectives of other teacher leaders and teachers you know
      • Cultivate a mindset of continuous improvement and co-create a culture of feedback, reflection and growth
      • Receive extra duty pay for participation on the Advisory Council
    • Facilitators
      • Create agendas based on input from council members, senior leadership and central office team members
      • Cultivate a mindset of continuous improvement and co-create a culture of feedback, reflection and growth
      • Facilitate feedback conversations and protocols
      • Capture confidential feedback that will be shared with relevant stakeholders
      • Follow-up with council members to share how feedback is implemented

      • Actively listen and ask clarifying questions to better understand the feedback from council members
