"Patricia led the way at Hamilton by creating a math class specifically for our Multilingual Learners who are newcomers or Levels 1-2 on ACCESS. Her classroom has become a safe haven for students who are new to the country and limited in their English abilities and has helped them succeed in math. Students look up to her, trust her and know that she believes in them. The joy, fun and learning happening in her classroom is obvious quickly upon entering. Her students know that they are valued and important when they are in her room and this creates an incredible atmosphere of collaboration and respect. She always builds incredible relationships with the students' families as well. Oftentimes, families of her students will reach out to her first with their questions and concerns because they know that she is someone they can rely on.
