Spanish Language Proficiency (SLP) Exam

    MLE 2S/ELA-S teachers and some special service provider candidates applying for Spanish-designated assignments with DPS are required to successfully complete one of the following two assessments.

    SLP Exam: DPS has partnered with Berlitz Languages, Inc., to facilitate and proctor the SLP exam. Candidates who plan to apply for MLE 2S/ELA-S teacher positions can choose the SLP exam option to qualify for the Spanish language requirement before being considered for positions that require Spanish and English instruction and delivery. Berlitz will also facilitate and proctor the SLP exam for MLE paraprofessional candidates who are required to speak Spanish as part of their positions.     Praxis II – Spanish: World Language 5195: As of May 2019, DPS accepts the Praxis II (#5195), with a passing score of 163 or higher, as a qualification to meet the Spanish language requirement for MLE 2S/ELA-S teacher candidates.
