"Monica Padilla has continued to live our Shared Core Value of Collaboration. Throughout the first semester, she has built intentional relationships with the Beacon network and has provided ongoing training throughout all DPS schools and outside organizations -- such as Balarat Outdoor Education -- to deepen their knowledge of trauma-informed practices. She does this to ensure that educators are aware of the impacts trauma has on the developing brain, such as behavior and learning. She has also continued to keep Students First at the center of her work by engaging parents and caregivers in the same trauma-informed practices training that our school teams receive so that families can also support students who experienced trauma.""
