Tips to Make Sure Summer Construction is a Breeze
The DPS Construction Services team is excited to bring improvements to your school over the summer break! Here are a few tips to ensure your project runs smoothly.
Communicate with your project manager
Talk with your project manager before the end of the school year to designate a point of contact in your building who will receive project updates and make decisions during the summer, especially if you will be traveling or unavailable for an extended period of time. This is often your facility manager.
Prepare your school for construction
Ask your project manager if any areas of your school need additional preparation before work begins. Construction can be messy and we want to make sure your supplies and furniture are kept clean and damage-free during the process.
Share your school schedule
Our goal is to have your space ready in time to welcome staff and students back to into the building. Be sure to share your back-to-school schedule with your project manager, including the dates when teachers and administrative staff need access to the building to prepare for the start of the year.
Update staff and families
Your project manager will send you monthly Construction Advisory Notices (CANs) that summarize progress and indicate any changes to the building that your school community needs to know. Post updates on your projects on your school website and social media channels to share the exciting progress -- and any important details that will affect your community.
