  • To avoid discriminating on the basis of disability, Denver Public Schools (DPS) will maintain, in operable working condition, those features of facilities that are required to be readily accessible to and usable by persons with disabilities, with only isolated or temporary interruptions in accessibility due to maintenance or repairs. Part of this maintenance obligation includes reasonable snow and ice removal efforts along designated accessible routes, which includes such components as walkways and ramps. DPS will continue to make snow and ice removal efforts as quickly as is reasonably possible. Also, it is important to note that removed snow and ice must not be plowed into or on top of accessible features or components of accessible routes, such as parking spaces or curb cuts. Finally, if temporary interruptions in accessibility due to hazardous weather occur, the District will provide, as necessary, reasonable alternate means of ensuring accessibility. Anyone needing such alternatives should contact the building leader at the school where the impacted accessible route is located.
