Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)
-
A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) is a pre-tax* benefit account used to pay for eligible medical, dental, and vision care expenses that aren’t covered by your insurance plan. This account is intended to help you pay less in taxes on eligible expenses you plan to have during the year (July through June). If you’re not sure if this account is good for you, compare it to our Health Savings Account (HSA). Please note the following "Claim it Deadlines" for FSAs:
- Previous Plan Year (7/1/22-6/30/23): Claim It Deadline is 9/30/2023
- Current Plan Year (7/1/23-6/30/24): Claim It Deadline is 9/30/2024

Contributions are deducted from your paychecks pretax (that means you don’t pay income tax on those dollars). HealthEquity issues you a debit card to access your funds*. If you prefer to seek reimbursement, you can submit claim forms and bills to HealthEquity directly. Make sure to keep all your receipts in case HealthEquity needs them from you in the future. Visit WageWorks to learn more about how to access and use your funds.
*For a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) only: WageWorks (Health Equity) does not issue a debit card. Eligible expenses must be submitted for reimbursements or scheduled to be sent directly to your care provider from WageWorks (Health Equity).
