    The HR Strategy and Support Team is a cross-functioning team composed of the HR Business Partners and HR Connect Representatives (Call Center).  Our team is considered to be the first point of contact for all 207 schools and central office department leaders and employees.  The goal of the team is to focus on district priorities which include enhancing the student and adult experience through excellent customer service.   

    Each member of the HR Strategy and Support Team has an innovative mindset and tackles each issue with an equity lens.  This approach provides a personalized experience that stakeholders will find to be a trustworthy source to get information and resources quickly.  We model the DPS six Core Values daily: Students First, Accountability, Integrity, Collaboration, Equity and Fun. 

    Here is a snapshot of some of the services the HR Strategy and Support Team provide: 

    HR Processes and Procedures - Strategy

    • 1:1 Meetings with Leaders monthly
    • Fall Adjustment and Spring Staffing (Budget, Reductions, Resume Writing)
    • Reasonable Suspicion 
    • Arrest Notifications
    • Mandatory Reporting
    • Utilize reports to analyze trends in hiring, retention, absenteeism, 

    Training/Coaching/Advising

    • Personnel Committee Training
    • CSC Training (in collaboration with the FACE team)
    • School Leadership Training (SLT)
    • Attendance - Ways we can hold employees accountable under the new Health Families and Workplace Act (HFWA)

    Intake/Investigations

    • HRBPs conduct all initial intake interviews 
    • Investigations that are not elevate to Investigators like DPRs, Title IX, TECDA Dismissal are handled by a HRBP

    Employee Relations - HRBPs coach/support leaders with the following

    • Grievance process (Levels I and II)
    • Terminations/Dismissal/Corrective actions
    • Administrative Leave with and without pay
    • Support Leaders in preparing Unemployment Hearings  

    HR Connect receives and handles on average 100 calls, 250 emails, and 10 to 20 individuals who walk-in with questions daily.  Other responsibilities include the following:

    •  Processing I-9s for newly hired members of DCTA, DSLA, DAEOP, and ProTech.   
    • Verification of Experience
    • CORA and Legal requests for information
    • Maintaining the district’s personnel records 

    The Investigations Team has been integrated into the HR Strategy and Support Team, effective immediately.

    This strategic restructuring aims to enhance our ability to address and investigate concerns raised by DPS students, team members, and the community.

    The Investigations Team plays a vital role in addressing a range of issues, including violations of Board Policies related to discrimination based on protected classes, hostile work environments, retaliation, equal opportunity, and Title IX compliance.

    Their efforts are focused on fostering an inclusive and diverse environment within our schools and central office. By consolidating under the HR Strategy and Support Team, we aim to streamline processes and promote collaboration throughout the investigation process.

    Our collective commitment is to swiftly address complaints and concerns with impartiality, ensuring that all individuals feel safe and supported in their learning and working environments.
