Critical Illness
Critical Illness coverage is offered to DPS employees through Chubb. Critical Illness insurance provides additional protection in events such as heart attack, cancer, or stroke. Chubb Critical Illness pays the policy holder directly to help with bills, mortgage, rent, and so on.

Accident
Accident Insurance is offered to DPS employees through Chubb. Chubb Accident pays cash benefits directly to the policy holder if they are involved in an accident and incurs injury. Accident insurance is designed to cover health plan gaps for out-of-pocket expenses like deductibles and copays.

Hospital Indemnity
Hospital Cash is offered to DPS employees through Chubb. Chubb Hospital Cash pays benefits directly to the policy holder and is designed to help cover the costs of a hospital admission that may not be covered by your medical insurance. The cash can help pay hospital bills, high deductibles, and other expenses such as food, rent, or utilities.

Voluntary Payroll Protection Plan
The Voluntary Payroll Protection Plan through Denver Teachers' Club is available to full-time DPS employees whose annual salary is paid in equal installments throughout the year. Westerra Credit Union
Started in 1934 by eight DPS teachers who pooled their funds to make loans to other teachers. Originally called the DPS Credit Union, Westerra was renamed to reflect the 7-county Denver Metro Area being served. How to Enroll or Make Changes

Chubb's Critical Illness, Accident, or Hospital Indemnity
You will be prompted to enroll during your new hire enrollment period and employees can enroll or make changes annually during open enrollment. You can drop coverage with a qualifying life event throughout the year. Coverage will end at the end of the month the request was made.

How do I file a claim for Critical Illness, Accident, or Hospital Indemnity insurance?
- Call 1-833-542-2013. A Chubb claims specialist will walk you through the submission process and request that you submit medical information (if necessary), and once processed they will notify you in writing of a claim decision.

Do unused commuter funds rollover?
Employees who remain employed by DPS are able to carry over unused amounts to future months for an indefinite period of time. Employees who terminate employment will forfeit any unused amounts; however, any qualified transportation expenses incurred prior to the employee’s date of termination are eligible expenses and can be reimbursed if submitted in a timely manner. COBRA does not apply to this benefit.

When will my commuter funds post to my account?
WageWorks funds will post 5-7 days after payday.

How do I file a claim for the Voluntary Payroll Protection Plan?
If you are a member and you need to file a claim, please click here and print the form provided (or call 303-377-0222). Complete Sections A & B of the form and return it to their office via school or US mail. Remember, claim forms take four to six weeks to process.

You can only enroll in Critical Illness, Accident, or Hospital Indemnity during the Benefits Annual Open Enrollment period or as a new hire. You can cancel coverage with a qualifying life event.
