What is a work-year calendar?

A work year refers to the work calendar a job is tied to. Work- year calendars display the actual days of work as well as paid holidays, paid non-duty days and non-paid non-duty days. Work-year calendars also determine all paid time off accruals (personal days, sick days and vacation days). Not all work year classifications accrue personal days, sick days or vacation days nor do all work schedules have paid holidays, paid non-duty days and non-paid non-duty days.

To meet the needs of the many different schools, DPS has many different work-year calendars. Some jobs can only have one specific work year tied to them while other jobs can have several work-year options depending on the needs of the school or department.
