You Were Automatically Enrolled - Now What?
Auto-enrollment means that you did not elect or waive benefits during your Open Enrollment or New Hire Enrollment periods. In that case, DPS automatically enrolls you in a plan to make sure that you have access to affordable health care. Below is some information about your plans, the benefits to you, and what to do next.
Your Medical Coverage
You were enrolled in the Aetna 3500 Employee Only plan. This plan provides preventive care for free. This may include free annual preventative exams and some free preventative prescriptions. To get started using your medical benefits, register your Aetna account at www.aetna.com or call 1-855-736-9469.
Your medical plan is an after-tax deduction. We do this to allow benefits to be dropped outside of Open Enrollment or with a Qualifying Life Event.
Cost: check out the Enrollment Guide to determine your per paycheck cost for this plan.
*You will see your Aetna premium listed under “After Tax Deductions” on your paychecks. Certain employee groups are eligible for Benefit Credits to offset the cost of this coverage. If eligible, you will see your Benefit Credits listed under the Aetna deduction as a negative number (a negative number means this is a credit back to you, not another deduction) - this offsets the cost of the Aetna coverage.
Your Health Savings Account (HSA)
DPS contributes $27.92 per paycheck on your behalf to your new Health Savings Account (HSA)! Check out the Health Savings Account (HSA) page to learn all about the benefits of this unique account. You can use this money to pay for the cost of qualifying medical expenses not covered by your insurance.
Please note: Your Health Savings Account (HSA) must be registered by the participant. You can open and register your Health Savings Account (HSA) at my.healthequity.com.
Your Sick Leave Bank
Sick Leave Bank is a reserve of sick time available to you should you require additional time off outside of your normal sick leave. Find all the information on the Sick Leave Bank page.
Find a provider: There is a specific Aetna network for DPS – this means not all Aetna providers are in our network. If you visit a provider outside of our network, you may not be covered for any expenses you incur. Costs outside of our network can be significantly higher. To find your doctor/medical facility in our DPS Aetna network:
- Visit Aetna
- Under "Continue as a guest", input your zip code, city, county, or state
- Select the amount of miles you want to look within (for example, within 25 miles)
- Select Search
- On the next page, choose this specific plan:
- “(CO) Aetna Whole Health - Colorado Front Range Health Network Only”
- Select Continue
- Find a provider by category, or search for a specific provider
- Visit Aetna
Sick Leave Bank
Sick Leave Bank available hours for use during a leave are listed in your TruePay Leave Balances, next to your regular Sick and Personal time accruals.
If you wish to waive this coverage going forward, please complete the 2020 - 2021 Medical Insurance Waiver Form. It will be submitted automatically. Waivers submitted on or before the last day of the month will take effect on the 1st of the following month.
Refunds will not be issued for premiums. Premiums are the costs deducted from your paycheck to pay for insurance
