Step-by-Step Guide for Enrolling in Benefits

Open Enrollment for the 2023-24 plan year is CLOSED. Open Enrollment occurs each spring near the end of April/beginning of May. The Benefits department works diligently to communicate with all DPS employees. Please stay tuned to the DPS newsletters, this site, and your email/mail for important information about the upcoming Open Enrollment Period. Make sure you receive important information by Updating Your Personal Information

You will have 30 calendar days from your start date to enroll in benefits. Benefits are effective the first of the month following your start date. For example, if you start August 12th, your benefits will begin September 1st. Employee deductions for benefits will appear on your paystub for the period that benefits were active. That means that on the September 22nd paycheck, benefits for September 15th - September 30th will be deducted. Enrolling in benefits quickly ensures that your deductions are evenly distributed over your first few paychecks and that you have access to healthcare should you need it.

If you are benefits eligible and do not enroll in or waive benefits, you will be auto-enrolled in the MotivHealth 3000 CDHP medical plan with employee-only coverage (post-tax), a health savings account (HSA), and the DPS Sick Leave Bank. If you are auto-enrolled in a medical plan, you have the option to cancel the plan by completing this Medical Waiver Form and submitting it to HR_connect@dpsk12.org. Any incurred charges are non-refundable.
