As we serve one of Colorado's fastest-growing school districts, DPS Safety is dedicated to fostering a secure and nurturing envioronment for more than 92,000 students, 15,000 staff members, and across 210 campuses, every hour of every day, all year round. 

Under the leadership of Chief of Safety, Greg Cazzell, our department boasts a dynamic team comprising over 140 professionals, including investigators, armed patrol officers, dispatchers, emergency preparedness experts, and campus security officers. Our scope of responsibilities is comprehensive. In addition to providing essential emergency management training to district staff, we are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our stakeholders. We also collaborate closely with school asministrators, offering guidance to enhance school safety in diverse scenarios. 

Our communications hubs handle over 30,000 calls for service each school year, while also diligently monitoring all radio communications between our command  team and  patrol staff. Moreover, we engage in collaborative efforts with jurisdictions across the metro area, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, and the Secret Sevice, further fortify our commitment to ensuring the utmost safety and security for our community.
