Our Operations team—comprising Dispatch, Patrol Officers, Training, and Investigations—works collaboratively to ensure every student, staff member, and school site is supported with swift response, ongoing prevention, and compassionate care.

    Dispatch

Your First Point of Contact for School Safety

Our School Safety Dispatch Center operates around the clock, serving as the nerve center for safety-related communication throughout the district. Staffed by trained professionals, our dispatchers respond to urgent calls, coordinate real-time school site support, and maintain open lines of communication with school leaders and emergency responders.

    • Direct communication with patrol teams and leadership

    • Critical incident support and coordination

    Patrol Officers

    Visible Presence, Real-Time Response

Our School Patrol Officers serve as first responders and trusted partners on campuses. Through proactive patrols, daily check-ins, and strategic visibility, they help deter threats, address concerns quickly, and build rapport with students and staff. Their presence reinforces a sense of safety while emphasizing approachability and community connection.

    • Assigned patrols by region for quicker response

    • Relationship-based engagement with schools

    • Support during drills, lockdowns, and special events

    Investigations

    Ensuring Safety Through Responsive Work

The Investigations Unit within the Department of Climate and Safety plays a central role in supporting safe learning environments across Denver Public Schools. The team is responsible for conducting thorough investigations into incidents that impact students, staff, and school communities—ranging from behavioral threats and accidents to serious criminal activity.

Working closely with internal departments such as Legal Counsel, Risk Management, and Human Resources, the unit manages cases involving injuries, misconduct, harassment, and abuse. Externally, investigators coordinate with law enforcement agencies across the Denver metro area, including Denver PD, Aurora PD, Englewood PD, and surrounding sheriff’s offices, ensuring strong regional collaboration.
