    The Department of Climate and Safety’s Training Team is dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of safety and professionalism within our team. Our comprehensive training programs are designed to equip both unarmed and armed officers, Campus  Safety Officers (CSOs), and Patrol officers with the skills they need to excel in their roles and effectively manage any situation they might encounter.

    Our Programs Our training curriculum includes a variety of specialized programs tailored to meet the needs of our diverse security team:

    • Unarmed and Armed Officer Training: This program focuses on both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for officers, whether they are serving in unarmed or armed capacities. Training covers legal aspects, physical security, and appropriate use of force.

    • CSO and Patrol Officer Training: CSOs and patrol officers receive training that emphasizes patrol techniques, observational skills, and community interaction to enhance school safety and student engagement.

    • Crisis Intervention: Officers learn to identify and respond to mental health crises, employing techniques that prioritize the well-being of all involved. This training is crucial for de-escalating potentially volatile situations effectively.

    • Response to Resistance and De-escalation: This module trains officers on managing resistance with minimal force and de-escalating conflicts. It includes scenario-based training to help officers make quick, informed decisions under pressure.

    • Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC): Focused on the safe and efficient operation of emergency vehicles, this course teaches advanced driving skills needed to navigate stressful and emergency situations safely. The course includes both classroom and hands-on driving instruction to ensure proficiency.

    The training team is composed of experienced professionals who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our academy. They are not only skilled in security and law enforcement techniques but are also passionate about teaching and mentoring new recruits.
