Every DPS Student is mathematically empowered as a critical thinker, decision maker and problem solver.
Overview
The Mathematics team is part of the Department of Culturally Sustaining Curriculum & Instruction (CSCI) within the Academics Division. The math team oversees and supports the development and implementation of curriculum, instruction and assessment for mathematics in Denver Public Schools
Oversight
In support of our district-wide Instructional Improvement Priority for K-12 Mathematics, the Math team is responsible for the following to support our community, parents, administrators, teachers, and students in Denver Public Schools:
- Supporting the schools and teachers with implementing the district-supported mathematics curricula and instructional materials;
- Aligning mathematics instructional materials to the Colorado Academic Standards PK-12, to ensure a rigorous, equitable and viable curriculum for all students;
- Supporting the design, implementation, and interpretation of District-wide mathematics assessments;
- Customizing support for school-based improvement goals based on identified needs in mathematics achievement;
- Identifying, designing, and coordinating mathematics professional development opportunities for District mathematics teachers; and
- Communicating with the Board of Education, District staff, and the public regarding the District mathematics program
