• Elyse Yurth Adlen Elyse Yurth Adlen, Head Start Education Coordinator

    As the Head Start Education Coordinator, Elyse is privileged to support all Head Start Classrooms in DPS. She spends her days in schools working with teachers to best support children and their families. With the belief that all children can thrive when feeling safe and loved, she helps teachers to create these environments where they can grow and learn. Elyse approaches challenging behaviors as a form of communication and works with her team members to remove these barriers to learning. Elyse holds a Bachelor's Degree in Cultural Anthropology fron the University of CA, Santa Barbara and a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education for Pacific Oaks College. When she is not at work, she is spending time with her husband, two children, and three dogs. 

    Specialty supporting PreK-3: Using a trauma-informed lens to support teachers and classrooms. Behavioral support specialist. Trained in Conscious Discipline and the Pyramid Plus models. EQIT Trainer and coach. Parent educator, with training in the Parents as Teachers model. CDE Early Childhood Professional Level V and Advanced Trainer certification.

    Favorite children’s book: The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats. As a child growing up in Southern California, without snow, this book was magical!
