Unified Improvement Plans

  • Students

Schools can improve student learning and system effectiveness by engaging in a cycle of continuous improvement to manage their performance.  The UIP template is designed to support schools in their performance management efforts.  The Education Accountability Act of 2009 requires that each Colorado school create an annual improvement plan.  To view school UIPs, please visit CDE's site.

2024 Update: CDE Expectations for UIPs have changed!

    2024 Timeline

Draft Unified Improvement Plans (UIPs) are due on June 12, 2024. Drafts should be as complete as possible for the following tabs:

    • Data Analysis: Student Performance Priorities (SPPs, formally known as Priority Performance Challenges or PPCs)
    • Priorities & Targets: Interim Measures and Targets
    • Root Causes
    • MIS Action Plan

Feedback will be provided to leaders in the UIP-One (School Instructions tab) before July Leadership Week.

Finalized UIP-Ones are due no later than September 25, 2024 (hard deadline). The Office of Schools will transfer information from the UIP-Ones to the CDE online system for public posting.

    Continuous Improvement Workshops

A representative from each school's administrative/leadership team should participate in a Data and Root Cause Analysis Workshop in Spring, 2024. These workshops will highlight changes in CDE expectations for the 2024 UIP and help school leaders complete various sections of the UIP-One template.
