Description

All members of Team DPS are invited to participate in this year's Marade in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, Jan. 15. As many of you know, Superintendent Tom Boasberg and Board of Education members participate in the annual parade and celebration each year.

Meeting Up:

Team DPS will be meeting at 9:15 a.m. at the East High School main entrance steps (facing City Park Esplanade) and then walking over to the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial.

What to Bring:

As we know living in Colorado, weather is finicky! Here’s how to be the most comfortable:

  • Dress in layers. Although the weather in the morning may be cold, it may warm up during the Marade.
  • Consider bringing hand warmers
  • Bring a water bottle!
  • Wear comfy shoes- we will be walking roughly the length of a 5K

Marade Route

Marade

Parking and Travel: Parking and travel can be a challenge, so we suggest that you consider carpooling or take public transit (however- the routes will be detoured beginning at 9:30am). If you wish to park, we suggest parking at East High School (we’ve been told that the lot fills up rapidly and street parking becomes scarce by 9:30).

Donations: This year the Marade commission will collect old cell phones and non-perishable food. The phones will be refurbished and donated to battered womens shelters. The food will be donated to the Food Bank of the Rockies.
