Liz Beindorff, LCSW, Head Start Disability Coordinator
As the Head Start Disabilities and Mental Health Coordinator for Denver Public Schools, Liz advocates healthy and appropriate social-emotional and behavioral development for both typically developing young children and those with special education needs. It is during the early years that children learn the most about self-regulation, making friends, solving problems, and engaging with others. These skills are foundational if any other learning is to take place. Liz enjoys the many challenges that come from examining why a child is doing certain behaviors; there is always a message behind the behavior! One of the most rewarding parts of her job is to uncover that message and then help adults and children respond effectively so that preschoolers learn appropriate behaviors. This is Liz’s seventh year with DPS Early Education, and when not at work, she enjoys reading, singing, volunteering in the community, and spending time with her husband and their cat, Hoss, and dog, Goldie.
