    Athletics in the secondary schools is an integral part of the curriculum of the school.  Education in the public schools has a multiple responsibility that might be stated as follows:

    • The purpose of the school is to help each student:
    • To develop his/her potentialities to the maximum;
    • To build a strong character with respect for the rights of others;
    • To develop a sense of personal initiative;
    • To become acquainted with ways of earning a living and the many qualifications needed;
    • To develop the understanding, skills, habits and attitudes necessary for competence in his/her chosen career as well as for full enjoyment and appreciation of life;
    • To use both critical thinking and good judgment in reaching decisions;
    • To become a well informed, responsible citizen;
    • To be open-minded and to want to continue to learn;
    • To develop good work habits and pride in careful workmanship;
    • To understand and follow good health and safety practices;
    • To develop a philosophy of life and a sense of values;
    • To understand his/her fellow student athletes and learn to live and work together with them in the same world of peace.
