Laura Green, Project Specialist
Laura Green developed an interest in education, language apprehension, and brain development as a result of home educating her four children. She served for ten years as a Conference Coordinator with CHEC, a Colorado Home Educator’s Conference which held an annual 3-day conference and curriculum fair at the Denver Merchandise Mart. She has taught drama, writing, speech, acting, and videography at Family Academy of Christian Education, taught private art and writing lessons, and tutored children in French and writing. Laura holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts, from CU Boulder, and a Paralegal Certification from Denver Paralegal Institute. She also has taken numerous Adobe Design courses, and obtained 2 certifications in Web Design and Videography, respectively, from Boulder Digital Arts.
In her off time, Laura loves the outdoors, travel, art, history and museums. She is an artist and writer. Currently she is working on several art projects and hopes to have a published book of poetry within the year.
Specialty supporting PrK-3 child development: I am a student of A Philosophy of Education by Charlotte Mason. Her philosophy informs my ideas about education with the first principle that children are born persons. “We have been so long taught to regard children as products of education and environment that we fail to realize that from the first they are persons.” Vol 6 p. 238
DPS Shared Core Value: Integrity is the value that seems to be the foundation to me. However, I love that FUN is a fundamental part of the Core Values, because I believe that many things can be accomplished with a greater degree of success when there is an element of fun in the working out of daily duties. “In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun…” Mary Poppins.
