Microaggressions are subtle yet offensive comments or actions directed at a non-dominant group that are often unintentional and can unconsciously reinforce stereotypes. This workshop provides learners an opportunity to explore microaggressions at a deeper level through engaging discussions and activities, and provides tools to help you spot and counteract them in your everyday life.

    November 15, 2021    Virtual       1:00-4:00 PM

Participants will begin to understand the experiences and identities of our LGBTQ+ students and colleagues.  We will enhance our ability to create a more inclusive DPS through the language we use, the identities we create inclusion for, and the self-awareness of our privilege.

    November 29, 2021    Virtual       1:00-4:00 PM

Radical Self Care and Racialized Trauma

This workshop supports the participant as they learn the strategies of Radical Self Care and how those strategies improve brain, physical and emotional health. Additionally, those strategies can support the participant in addressing symptoms of racialized trauma that is a significant aspect of American culture. The workshop identifies Racialized Trauma (Menakem, 2017) and offers strategies to participants to increase their awareness of the somatic examples of Racialized Trauma. This awareness can help participants make progress in their journey to become more equitable.
