RE:  Work Accommodations

Dear Transportation Team Members,

We are grateful that all of our staff members and their family members now have access to the COVID-19 vaccine. As we see a decline in the spread of COVID-19, as well as the increased availability of vaccinations, we are prepared and excited to safely bring more students and staff back into our buildings. With that in mind, and with the expiration of the Governor’s order on returning to workplaces, we wanted to share an update on expectations for those who have had a personal accommodation throughout this past year.

All approved accommodations for the Department of Transportation staff will remain in place for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year, according to our current operational need.

Looking ahead to the 2021-22 school year, despite in-person instruction, your doctor may advise that you require a Reasonable Accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADAAA). If your medical provider advises that you will need a Reasonable Accommodation under the ADAAA, please follow the instructions found on The Commons. If you are seeking a Reasonable Accommodation for the 2021-22 school year, particularly if the accommodation would impact your in-person assignment, then we need you to submit your request for Reasonable Accommodation by June 6, 2021. If your status in our system is inaccurate, please make sure your leader is aware and contact our Leaves Team at LeaveofAbsence@dpsk12.org to ensure your status is correct in the system. Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do for our kids during this particularly challenging school year. We are energized by the community’s success in managing this pandemic and by the opportunity to conclude the school year on an upswing!

Thank you,

Albert Samora
