SUBJECT: New School Year 2021-2022 Information/Dates

 

Dear All Transportation Employees,

As we close the chapter on the 2020-21 school year, it’s time to look ahead to a fresh start in August. We are hoping the 2021-22 school year will be a transition to normalcy, with full-capacity transportation services. In order to provide the best possible support to our students, we have to get ready. Please take your time to go through this document as it contains important information you will need going forward.

MANDATORY IN-SERVICE

MARK YOUR CALENDARS for August 16th or 17th. All drivers, operators, paraprofessionals, maintenance and staff members must attend an in-service session on one of those dates. It is MANDATORY. When you attend, you must be dressed according to the employee handbook, including appropriate footwear.

 

THE 2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR BID

All school routes will be posted electronically beginning at 7:30 A.M. August 4th and will stay up through 5:00 P.M. August 6th, 2021. 

Note: Employee credentials will be based on the current information in the Training Department and employees must be medically qualified [including all leaves of absence, light duty, and workers comp]  in order to bid.  Drivers who fail to be qualified will be allowed to re-enter the bid [per contractual language] when s/he has validated their credentials are current or medical status has returned to qualified. 

 

Monday, August 9, 2021 Driver School Route Bid (If you cannot directly participate, provide bid choices according to contract language.)

 

• 7 AM to 10 AM  Regular 180 drivers, 180 relief drivers, and 32 hour benefitted drivers  
• 10 AM to 11 AM  Part time Driver Seniority #1 to #35 
• 11 AM to 12 PM  Part time Driver Seniority #36 to #70 
• 1 PM to 2 PM  Part time Driver Seniority #71 to #105 
• 2 PM to 3 PM  Part time Driver Seniority #106 to #128

Wednesday, August 18, 2021 - All Drivers and Bus Paraprofessionals report for work at their terminal of assignment and bid time for training sessions, route familiarization, bus cleaning, annual check rides, and other duties assigned.   CDE written testing will be accomplished.

Thursday, August 19, 2021 - All Drivers and Bus Paraprofessionals report for work at their terminal of assignment and bid time for training sessions, route familiarization, bus cleaning, annual check rides, and other duties assigned.   CDE written testing will be accomplished.

Friday, August 20, 2021  -  All Drivers and Bus Paraprofessionals report for work at their terminal of assignment and bid time for training sessions, route familiarization, bus cleaning, annual check rides, and other duties assigned.   CDE written testing will be accomplished.

 

NOTE:  SCHEDULED EVENTS AUG 18 THRU AUG 20 ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.  AND, ROUTE FAMILIARIZATION IS DONE AT ASSIGNED TIMES, SPLIT SHIFT [IE NO STRAIGHT THROUGH SHIFTS].

 

ATTENTION HOURLY EMPLOYEES:  If you have not been discharged by a supervisor, have not resigned, or anticipate resigning; Denver Public Schools hereby notifies you that you have Reasonable Assurance of returning to our employ in the 2021-22 school year.

 

The 2021-22 School Year begins on Monday, August 23rd. We look forward to a great year.
