    DPS Capstone Overview 2023-24

    Colorado’s graduation requirements have changed for the graduating class of 2021 and beyond. To graduate, all students must demonstrate competency in both English and mathematics, complete 24 units of course credits across different content areas, and complete an Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP).

    Competency Demonstration Options

    To meet the graduation requirements for competency, students must earn qualifying scores, in both math and English, on at least one of the standardized test/course options or DPS Capstone Options.  Click below to learn more about each DPS Capstone Option. 

NEW - Community College of Denver College-Ready Benchmark

  • DPS and the Community College of Denver (CCD) are proud to announce a completed DPS Literacy and/or Mathematics Capstone will be recognized by CCD as a college-ready benchmark.*

  • Literacy Capstone

    Students completing the DPS Literacy Capstone will be able to enroll in English 121 and 131 without the corequisite of a support lab.

  • Mathematics Capstone

    Students completing the DPS Mathematics Capstone will be able to enroll in MAT 103, 107, 108, 112, 120, 121, 123, 135, 155 without the corequisite of a support lab.

  • Eligibility

    • CCD will recognize a completed capstone indefinitely, allowing currently enrolled students and future DPS graduates to use their completed capstones as college-ready benchmarks.
    • Students are eligible to use this college-ready benchmark effective immediately. 
    • This agreement is currently in effect for CCD courses only.
