What is ASCA?
-
The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) supports school counselors' efforts to help students focus on academic, career and social/emotional development so they achieve success in school and are prepared to lead fulfilling lives as responsible members of society.
In Denver Public Schools, school counselors design their counseling programs and practices around the ASCA National Model.
This means, school counselors:
- Make data-informed decisions
- Support all students using a systemic approach
- Provide developmentally appropriate curriculum
- Close acheivement and opportunity gaps
RAMP Recognition
A Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) acknowledges school counselors who deliver comprehensive data-driven programs. Through a multi-year, intensive process, counselors submit 12 components of the ASCA National Model with a focus on outcome data, process data and perception data.
