Graduation Requirements for the Class of 2027 and Beyond
In pursuit of our commitment of preparing students for success in college and career, and to act on our commitment to close gaps in opportunities for all students, the Board of Education has established the following graduation requirements for students who enter the ninth grade for the first time in the 2023-24 school year and thereafter.
For the Class of 2027 and beyond there are four additional course requirements that count towards the 24 units of course credits required for graduation.
- Financial Literacy (one of the options listed below)
- Personal Finance ( 0.5 units in social studies)
- Financial Algebra (1.0 units in Mathematics)
- Cultural Competency (one of the options listed below)
- Introduction to Ethnic Studies (0.5 units in social studies)
- Other approved existing elective course options
- The Power of History, Conflict and Healing (0.5 units in social studies)
- Comprehensive Health (0.5 units in electives)
