    Why Duo

    What is Duo?

Duo is a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) tool that significantly increases the security of your login by combining something that you know (your password) with something physical that only you possess (such as a smartphone). Currently, Duo protects Employee Space, Manager Space, District Training Registration, the internal Job Board, and GlobalProtect VPN.

Beginning May 3, 2023, Duo will be activated for all applications behind the DPS blue login screen. This includes applications such as Infinite Campus, True Pay, Destiny, and others. For a complete list of the applications that will be Duo protected, please see the Duo MFA Protected List

Beginning February 8, 2024, Duo Mobile will no longer support Android 10 and iOS14 operating systems (OS). There will no longer be any maintenance or security updates. Please update your phone to the latest OS for best performance.

  • Duo Enrollment

If you have not already done so, you will be prompted to enroll with Duo when you attempt to log into one of DPS’ protected systems such as Employee Space, Infinite Campus, District Training, and email. Simply follow the prompts on the login screen to enroll. Once you have enrolled, Duo will send you an authentication request each time you access a protected DPS system.

How Duo Mobile App Interacts with Your Smartphone

Duo is a trusted Cisco product. Cisco is one of the largest security corporations in the United States. They keep the minimum amount of information to ensure that it is only your unique phone logging into DPS protected systems.

    Your Camera

Duo Mobile only accesses your camera when scanning a QR code during enrollment/activation. If your camera is not working, or you do not feel comfortable allowing access to your camera, you can select “Email me an activation link instead”.

VPN and Employee Self Service Login

The Duo Mobile app only interacts with Duo.com when you are logging into important DPS applications such as GlobalProtect VPN and Employee Space.

    Security Issues

Duo will identify and inform you of potential security issues on your device. This will not restrict your access and you choose whether or not to address the identified issues on your device.
